Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about sustainable RFID hotel keycards and wristbands for Indian Ocean hospitality.
We supply keycards and wristbands with MIFARE Classic 1K (13.56 MHz, ISO/IEC 14443-A), MIFARE DESFire EV2 (higher security, AES-128 encryption), NTAG213, NTAG215, and NTAG216 (NFC Forum Type 2, for NFC-enabled smartphones). The right chip type depends on your lock system and use case — Classic 1K works with the widest range of existing hotel lock infrastructure, while DESFire EV2 is preferred for new high-security installations.
Yes. Our FSC-certified wood and bamboo keycards embed a standard RFID module (same frequency and chip type as conventional PVC cards) within the card body. They operate at 13.56 MHz and are compatible with all major hotel electronic lock systems including VingCard (Assa Abloy), Dormakaba (formerly Kaba and Dorma), Salto Systems, ASSA ABLOY Hospitality, and others. We verify compatibility before shipping by encoding to your specific lock system's sector/block structure.
PPHbio (also sometimes referred to as compressed wood pulp card or RPVC bio) is a card substrate made primarily from compressed and bound wood pulp fibres, rather than petroleum-derived polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Compared to conventional PVC hotel keycards, PPHbio has approximately 85% lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) per card lifecycle, no chlorine chemistry in manufacturing, is free of plasticisers such as phthalates, and is compostable under industrial composting conditions. The card dimensions and thickness match standard CR80 (85.6mm × 54mm × 0.76mm) and work with all standard encoding and printing equipment.
It depends on the product type. Our silicone RFID wristbands are rated IP68 (IEC 60529), meaning they are fully waterproof under continuous immersion beyond 1 metre depth — suitable for swimming pools, ocean, and water park environments. Our RFID wood bead wristbands are rated IP67 (temporary immersion to 1m for 30 minutes) — fine for pool splashing and beach environments but not continuous deep submersion. Organic cotton RFID wristbands are water-resistant at the chip encapsulation level, though the fabric itself absorbs water and should be dried after submersion.
Minimum order quantities vary by product. For hotel keycards (wood, PPHbio, bamboo), the typical MOQ is 200–500 cards depending on customisation complexity. For RFID wristbands, MOQ is typically 100–200 units. For sample packs (to test before committing to a full order), we can supply 2–10 units of each product type pre-encoded to your lock system. Contact us for a specific quote based on your property size and requirements.
Yes. We supply to all major Indian Ocean markets including Seychelles (primary market), Maldives, Mauritius, Réunion, Madagascar, and East African coastal destinations including Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar. We have established freight routing to remote island destinations and include all necessary customs documentation. Typical delivery time after production completion is 5–7 business days to Seychelles, Maldives, and Mauritius.
For keycards: we offer offset CMYK printing (up to full bleed), digital UV printing, laser engraving of room numbers or property logos, Pantone colour matching for background tints, and choice of surface finish (gloss, matte, soft-touch). For wristbands: colour matching to Pantone references, logo screen printing or embroidery, adjustable sizing, bead pattern customisation for wood bead wristbands, and custom weave patterns for organic cotton wristbands. All RFID products can be encoded to your property management system (PMS) specification.
Production time for standard orders is 10–15 business days after order confirmation and artwork approval. After production completion, delivery to Seychelles (Mahé, Praslin, or La Digue) takes 5–7 business days via air freight. Total lead time is typically 3–4 weeks from order to delivery. For urgent orders, please contact us to discuss expedited production timelines.
FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council, an international non-profit organisation that promotes responsible management of the world's forests. FSC certification follows a Chain of Custody model — every stage from forest harvest through manufacturing to finished product must be independently audited annually to verify that wood materials originate from responsibly managed forests. Hotels using FSC-certified keycards can legitimately include this in their sustainability reports and marketing communications, as the claim is verifiable and third-party audited.
Yes. All products in our catalogue are REACH compliant (EU Regulation EC 1907/2006 — Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) and RoHS compliant (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2011/65/EU). RoHS compliance confirms that products are free from lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). We can provide compliance declarations on request.
Yes, with the appropriate POS and payment integration. RFID wristbands containing MIFARE DESFire EV2 chips can be linked to guest accounts in a cashless payment system, allowing guests to charge drinks at the beach bar, spa treatments, equipment rental, and other resort services by tapping their wristband. This requires integration with a compatible POS system — we can supply wristbands encoded to your cashless payment system's specifications. Common integrations include Infor HMS, Oracle OPERA, and dedicated resort cashless payment platforms.
MIFARE Classic 1K is the most widely deployed contactless card standard in hospitality — it operates at 13.56 MHz (ISO 14443-A), has 1KB memory, and uses a proprietary encryption scheme (Crypto-1). It works with the vast majority of existing hotel lock systems. MIFARE DESFire EV2 is a higher-security standard using AES-128 encryption with mutual authentication — significantly more secure than Classic 1K. DESFire EV2 is preferred for new installations requiring strong security (e.g., high-end resort safe storage, marine vessels, large conference systems). For most standard hotel room access applications, MIFARE Classic 1K is entirely sufficient.
Yes. We encode keycards and wristbands to the sector/block structure and facility code required by your specific PMS and lock management system. Common systems include VingCard VISIONLINE, Dormakaba Ambiance, Salto Space, and ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions. We require your lock system's encoding specification (typically provided by your lock system supplier or from your existing keycard supplier) before production. If you're unsure of your encoding spec, we can help identify it from a sample of your existing keycards.
Our product range carries the following certifications depending on product type: FSC Chain of Custody (wood and bamboo products), GOTS — Global Organic Textile Standard (organic cotton wristbands), ISO 14001 Environmental Management, ISO 9001 Quality Management, REACH chemical safety compliance (all products), RoHS hazardous substance free (all products), IP67 and IP68 water resistance (wristbands), and MIFARE compatibility certification (all RFID products). Specific certifications per product are listed on each product page.
Use the contact form on our Contact page and specify "sample request" in your message. Include your property name, location, lock system brand and model, and which products you want to evaluate. We'll prepare a sample pack of 2–5 cards or wristbands per product type, pre-encoded to your lock system specification where possible. Standard sample processing takes 5–10 business days. We ship samples to Seychelles, Maldives, Mauritius, and other Indian Ocean destinations.
